CFD FOR HEAD OF R&D

An error costs the least while it is still on the drawing board

Simulation moves discovery from the workshop to the screen. The question is rarely whether it works — but what it takes to get started. We answer that before you make any decisions.

The challenge

It costs you time and money

  • Errors only caught in the prototype cost both time and tooling molds
  • Simulation expertise resides with one person, and that person may change jobs
  • Hard to assess in advance whether the return matches the investment
  • Support responses that take days

The solution

We give you control back

  • Errors are caught while they can still be corrected on the drawing board
  • The method is documented, so it withstands employee turnover
  • A scoped pilot project you can evaluate before scaling
  • Local hotline with responses from a specialist on the same day

WHAT IT REQUIRES

What you need to allocate — and what you don't

1. Hardware

A standard workstation goes a long way. Several of the solvers are built to deliver usable results without a cluster, and scaling to HPC is something you grow into rather than start with.

2. People

Getting started does not require a new hire. A well-defined task can be handled by a design engineer with a thoughtful setup. A dedicated specialist only becomes relevant as the scope of tasks expands.

3. Time

A well-defined task with usable geometry can be running within a few days. A new discipline with complex geometry takes longer — and we tell you that before you purchase, not after.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Smaller than most think. One license and one well-defined task are enough to determine whether it delivers what you hope for. We recommend this over a broad rollout that is difficult to evaluate afterward — and it also makes the decision easy to reverse if the answer is no.

That is the right concern, and the answer is not a person, but a process. Setups, templates, and boundary conditions can be documented so calculations can be repeated by someone else. This takes slightly more effort initially, but it makes the difference between building an internal competence and creating a dependency.

That it is validated — or frankly, that it isn't. A result holds the most weight when the underlying assumptions are documented, and when at least one result has been verified against physical measurements. That is a core part of how we recommend setting it up from the start, precisely because the question will arise.

On how many people will be using it, and which disciplines you cover. The tools are licensed individually, so a single discipline does not cost the same as a broad portfolio. We provide a concrete figure once we know what you need — not before.
