Allegro X

When the PCB is too large to be manufactured one at a time

Allegro X is Cadence’s platform for complex hardware designs. It is built for systems with multiple PCBs, for teams working on the same design simultaneously, and for requirements that must be managed as constraints rather than as agreements.

3,600+ installations throughout the Nordics

The challenge

It costs you time and money

  • Only one person can work in the layout at a time
  • Requirements reside in a document no one opens
  • The system consists of several PCBs that are not aware of each other
  • Support responses that take days

The solution

We give you control back

  • Multiple people work in the same design simultaneously
  • Constraints apply within the tool rather than on paper
  • Multiple PCBs managed as a single system
  • Local hotline with responses from a specialist on the same day

HOW IT CONNECTS

Three things that make large designs possible

1. Constraints are managed in one place

Constraint Manager keeps the rules organized so that they apply to both the schematic and the layout. That is the difference between a documented requirement and one that has been agreed upon.

2. Multiple people can work in the same design

A large PCB doesn't have to wait for one person to finish. Multiple people can work on it at the same time, keeping track of who is changing what.

3. Analysis is integrated into the layout

Signal and power integrity are addressed during the routing process, rather than as a separate project afterward.

COMPARE

When is it time for Allegro X?

OrCAD X Professional covers the vast majority of PCBs, including high-speed and rigid-flex PCBs. The difference becomes apparent when the design consists of multiple PCBs, becomes very dense, or when a more in-depth analysis is required.

PURCHASE OR RENT

Purchase the license, or rent it for the period you need

BuyThe license is yours permanently. This is the most obvious choice when complex designs are a regular part of your development process and you don’t want to worry about renewals.
Rent for a projectBy the week, month, or quarter. This suits a defined project, a busy period, or an additional designer who needs to get started right away.
Rent continuouslyBy the half-year or year. This is for teams that want a fixed expense and the flexibility to adjust the number of licenses over time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

OrCAD X is the all-in-one package for a team that designs the PCB from start to finish on its own. Allegro X is built for larger-scale projects: multiple PCBs in the same system, multiple people working on the same design at the same time, and high-speed designs where requirements must be managed as constraints. The table above shows the differences, and we’d be happy to review your designs before recommending one solution over the other.

It depends on the design, not on the size of the company. A small team working on a single high-speed PCB may benefit more from Allegro X than a large team working on simple PCBs. That’s also why we’d rather look at one of your designs than an organizational chart.

Yes. The two platforms share the same core technology, and data can be transferred seamlessly. Many begin with OrCAD X and migrate as their designs grow.

Yes. In-design analysis in the layout is powered by Sigrity X Aurora. Deeper analysis in PowerSI and Advanced SI are standalone tools that can be added later.

Yes. Allegro X can be rented on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis, and it can also be purchased. This allows you to test the platform on a specific project before making a decision.
