AXIEM solves planar structures using the method of moments: transmission lines, passive components, coupling, and large antennas. The analysis is launched directly from the design in Microwave Office.

HOW IT WORKS
VALUE
From transmission lines and passive components to antennas and arrays, solved exactly as drawn.
Planar structures make up most of the copper in an RF design.

The choice of method determines what can be solved quickly and what can be solved accurately.

An EM analysis is only valuable when the result can be directly applied in simulation.

The analysis that actually gets run is the one that fits seamlessly into the workflow.

AXIEM is fast where applicable. The rest belongs in a 3D solver.

Implementation
Cadence provides the solver. Nordcad helps you apply it to the right structures.
Not everything requires electromagnetic simulation. We advise on what is essential to include and what unnecessarily consumes compute time.
EM analysis is used to compare results before and after changes. This requires a consistent setup, and that is one of the areas where we assist.
You gain access to specialists with hands-on EM analysis experience who can review results together with you.

FAQ
When the geometry is planar. AXIEM is designed for planar conductors and offers the highest performance there. As soon as the structure involves a true third dimension — such as a connector, transition, or housing — Analyst is the appropriate choice.
The tools are integrated within AWR, and AXIEM is typically used on structures directly from a Microwave Office design. If you only need to solve a standalone structure, we evaluate what makes technical sense before any purchase.
Large planar antennas and arrays are precisely what this method is built for. In practice, the limit is set by the hardware and how finely the structure needs to be meshed — this is one of the aspects we can evaluate for your specific project.
AXIEM is planar and integrated into the RF flow. Clarity is a full 3D solver for electronic simulation, typically used for interconnects and packages in digital designs. They address different challenges, and the choice generally depends on the design environment you are working in.
